The right pre-procedure and aftercare can mean the results of your semi-permanent makeup treatment look picture perfect for years to come. Within this page you’ll find information on how to prepare for semi-permanent cosmetic treatments, as well as how to care for your skin following your treatment.

Pre-procedure care

Prior to your treatment Katie Elizabeth will carry out a patch test on your skin. This is to ensure that you are not going to experience any reaction to the treatment and is for your own comfort and protection.

It’s important to know that semi-permanent makeup treatments can sometimes require more than one application. To make sure you’re happy with the results, Katie Elizabeth may ask you to return a few weeks after your first procedure for a touch up. This is to make sure that you have the effect you wanted, not results that are either too subtle or too dramatic for your liking

When coming in for your treatment, it’s recommended that you wear your normal makeup into the salon. This will help Katie to understand how you usually style your face and the amount of makeup you usually wear.

For 2 days prior to the event (and 2 days following), please refrain from taking Aspirin, Ibuprofen or Coumadin. Please also do not drink alcohol the night before your treatment.

Aftercare is very important when having a semi-permanent makeup procedureIt’s also important to understand what to expect from your skin in the days following your treatment.

Most importantly, the colour intensity is up to 50% darker in the days following your treatment. This colour will fade throughout the first week of healing, so please do not be alarmed if the initial results are more dramatic than you attended.

For 2-5 days after your semi-permanent makeup application you may experience some tenderness, dryness, itching, flaking, swelling and/ or redness. Not all clients will experience these after effects, but for those that do it is completely normal.

To help your skin heal naturally, it’s recommended that you follow three steps for 7 days following your treatment. These are:

Apply the moisturising balm supplied by Katie Elizabeth to your treatment area at least 3 times per day. You can apply this using a clean cotton ball or bud and should wash your hands before and after application.

Use only a gentle face cleanser or water to clean your face, and try to avoid the affected area

If the treatment area does get wet, pat dry with a clean cotton bud or tissue

To ensure the best possible finished result please refrain from the following:

Extreme temperatures in the days following your treatment

Applying makeup to your treatment area for at least 3 days

Applying other creams or Vaseline to your treatment area while it is healing

Itching or scratching the area following your treatment

Activities which may cause you to sweat and/ or aggravate your facial skin in the week following your treatment
